PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The European Wilderness Society is looking for two new Interreg Volunteer Youth volunteers! They will be able to work with us for 6 months starting earliest in March on two Interreg projects, namely BEECH POWER and Centralparks. By working on BEECH POWER, you will have a chance to contribute to a transnational project aiming for better conservation of UNESCO World Heritage Beech Forests. Partners from 5 different countries are working together to improve the management quality and effectiveness of these sites. The internship we offer with the Interreg Centralparks project will be an opportunity to focus on the conservation of the protected areas in the Carpathians, one of the most important wildlife refuges in Europe. The transnational project focuses on building capacities of the management of the protected area for the harmonization of biodiversity protection and local socio-economic development.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteers will receive €28 per day for the duration of the project through the IVY initiative. More information about it is available on the Interreg Volunteer Youth website. Our team will assist you in finding a place or guest family for the time of the volunteer’s stay. The office provides an AUVA proofed working space, everybody works on his or her own laptop. Necessary software can be provide where needed.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
If you think you would be a good match for us, please send us your motivation letter and CV (Europass Format) by the 24th of February. Before applying, make sure to register yourself on the European Solidarity Corps portal. In the motivation letter (max. 1 page A4), please include your participant reference number from the portal, information about yourself, your background and motivation behind becoming a European Wilderness Society volunteer. Volunteers will start in March or April 2020 for a duration of 6 months.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
Between 18 and 30 years old, highly interested in either of the two projects. The volunteer needs to have excellent English skills (C1) and German (B2) to apply for BEECH POWER, and C1 English skills for Centralparks. Include this in your Europass CV. You will be assisting the project team in Tamsweg (Austria) with project communication (online materials), assistance to the project management, taking part in project event organisation, joining project events and field trips, photo documentation of field activities.
